The Campaign Spot

They’re Not Getting the Band Back Together

Over in The Hill, they write,

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) has enlisted a number of GOP strategists from John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, another sign that he’s planning a run for president in 2012.

Well, yeah, but Pawlenty’s PAC has also brought on former congressman Vin Weber, a fellow Minnesotan, who was a Romney guy, as well as Phil Musser, who was also with Romney, and with the Republican Governors Association before then.

There’s Mindy Finn, who was Romney’s e-campaign director, and Patrick Ruffini, who was doing web stuff for Rudy Giuliani last cycle. There’s Alex Conant and Liz Mair, who worked at the RNC last cycle.

A Blues Brothers–esque “They’re getting the band back together” makes for a cute storyline, but as of yet, one can’t say that any of the possible 2012 contenders is reassembling the staff of one of the 2008 campaigns.

UPDATE: Hey, look who’s calling the Baucus bill “tax and spending bill masquerading as a health reform bill” over at BigGovernment?
