The Campaign Spot

The Upside, and Downside, of McCain’s Straight Talk

From a reader who is not fond of John McCain, noticing his contrast with Romney with his state-specific tailored economic stimulus proposals:

I can’t stand McCain.

But dang if he doesn’t go into Iowa and say [rude dismissive phrase] and your corn subsidies….go into Michigan and say [rude dismissive phrase] and your bloated auto industry…go into Florida and say [rude dismissive phrase]  and your national catastrophe fund.

There is a lot about McCain that is not straight talk.

But when he does straight talk — it’s the straightiest straight talk you will find.

And that’s part of the problem.

Like when he gets to, “[rude dismissive phrase] and your global warming doubts.”

Of course, the same could be said about immigration, tax cuts, campaign finance reform, gang of 14, etc.  All of which I disagree with and for which exists a strong case that each could do damage to America.  But if someone controls the levers of power with a like-minded congress and tries to implement wholesale policies to stop global warming?

I’m moving to rural Idaho, and stocking up on food, supplies and weapons.
