Wall Street Rescue Bill Unfinished By the Time The Debate Starts?

The debate will probably go on Friday night. But Rep. Barney Frank, chair of the House Financial Services Committee, says, “A timeline of early next week is… realistic for passage of the massive bill to ‘unclog’ the financial markets.” If the bill hasn’t passed by the time the debate starts — 9 p.m. that evening — then McCain’s suspension and call for debate postponement is going to look pretty wise.
Who knows, if the market tanks today or Friday, maybe the debate gets postponed after all.
And Ed Rendell’s “What, does McCain think the Senate will still be working at 9 p.m. Friday?” line from yesterday will look pretty darn stupid.
