The Campaign Spot

Washington-Area Television Is Now All-Obama, All The Time

My perception of local television was accurate, it turns out:

“In the first three weeks of September, Barack Obama ran 1,342 television commercials in the Washington media market that reaches heavily populated and contested Northern Virginia. According to The Nielsen Company, in the same period and market, John McCain aired just eight commercials on broadcast stations.”

Now, I know that the rest of the state is more friendly territory to Republicans than northern Virginia. I know that the McCain and Palin had terrific turnout in Fairfax a few weeks ago.

But come on, man.

Considering how much of the political press is based in Washington, I wonder how many people writing about, opining on, and discussing the race are being influenced by this non-stop barrage of Obama advertising and the dearth of any presence by McCain…
