The Campaign Spot

We’re Supposed To Be Bothered By Rick Davis? What About Freddie Mac’s Spending?

I know I’m supposed to be scandalized that Rick Davis said he had ceased his connections to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and we now learn that his firm — that he has taken an unpaid leave of absence since McCain began his campaign — has been paid $15,000 a month by Freddie Mac.

(The argument is that because Davis is an equity holder (a shareholder) of the firm, he’s still being “paid” by Freddie Mac.)
But doesn’t it seem a bit more appalling that now-taxpayer-backed Freddie Mac has been paying Davis’ firm $15k a month for the past two years –  $315,000 since January 2007 — to, in their own description, do nothing? I mean, no wonder that place’s management ran it into the ground.
