Obama: “Americans are going to have to give up paying for things that don’t make them healthier.” Like, you know, end-of-life care.
Also note Phil Klein’s question, “who decides what makes Americans healthier and what doesn’t?”
“Why would we want to pay for things that don’t work?” Not fair, Mr. President, we’ve paid every President and Congress, every year.
He avoids a third “Let me be clear” by saying, “I just want everybody to be clear about this.”
Obama, says that the health care review board’s moves will be approved by Congress, thus it “will not be completely removed from politics.” This is apparently a feature, not a bug.
