Who Is “Governor X”?

There’s no guarantee that the prostitute in this New York Daily News story is telling the truth. (The linked story has an almost-not-safe-for-work photo of former madam Kristin Davis.) But presuming that she, who once “worked” for former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, isn’t making up a story about doing the horizontal mambo with a second governor, with the fees covered by a third party, and that her description is accurate, well . . . there are only a couple of governors who were in office in 2006, are still in office today, and have a “wife who is quite prominent in her own right.”

Then you narrow the list to those who could plausibly appear in New York regularly*, and because the prostitute said she only learned after their first meetings that he was married — which would seem to throw out any mega-superstar governor who’s married to a famous former news anchor from a famous political family — you have a very, very short list of governors who fit the criteria.

If the story’s true. And it could very well not be true.

* Upon further review, the Daily News article makes reference to an “out-of-state date” where she was introduced to the governor. So geography may not be much of a factor, as the meetings could have occurred somewhere well outside of New York City.
