Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is sticking around, for at least a year.
The reaction on Daily Kos is a bit less apoplectic than one might expect. Still, there are pockets of frustration:
“I suppose it’s bad news that a neocon warmonger is to remain at the Defense Department.”
“It means that Mullin and Petraeus have won this round and 16 months withdrawal timeline is done for all practical purposes.”
“So “change” = FOUR MORE YEARS. Is this what we voted for?”
