At least 19 people were shot in Chicago in a 12-hour span starting early Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.
Gunfire broke out on the North, South and West sides in that stretch and claimed at least three lives: a 14-year-old boy shot in the Austin neighborhood, and two people shot by police.
Police believe three people were wounded in a shooting or multiple shootings about 9 p.m. near the intersection of East 80th Street and South Ingleside Avenue, according to Pat Camden, a police union spokesman. A fourth person, believed to have shot at least one of the three, was fatally shot by a police officer moments afterward when he turned toward police with a gun in his hand, Camden said. . .
