Ezekiel Emanuel: There Should Be Daily Tech Briefings on Healthcare.gov

Former White House health care adviser Ezekiel Emanuel said Monday that administration should be giving “wonky” daily briefings on what is wrong with the health care exchange website — and how they’re going to fix it.

“I think they need to have daily briefings and they need to give us milestones over the next four weeks as to what we should look for for improvement. Reassurance verbally is not worth much at this point,” Emanuel said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

The former adviser to the Office of Management and Budget, who left the administration in 2011, said the briefings should be detailed.

“I would like it to be a little wonky. Tell me exactly what the problem is and what you’re doing to fix it, and what problems are going to remain after four weeks that will be fixed over the next year,” Emanuel said.

The bioethicist and brother of former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said he isn’t sure why the administration isn’t releasing enrollment numbers from the exchanges more frequently, but he said that’s not as big a concern as fixing problems that have plagued the site since its roll out at the beginning of the month. . .
