McAuliffe’s Virginia on Display

Virginia Department of Transportation crews have completed repairs to the lane stripes that peeled from Interstate 66 Monday morning.

The right lane and shoulder on the eastbound I-66 bridge over Route 29 were closed for the work until 3:30 p.m. Monday, say VDOT officials. Virginia State Police officials confirm the work resumed overnight and was completed shortly after 5 a.m.

On Monday morning, the Sky 9 chopper flew over Interstate 66 where lane stripes were coming up and creating a mess on the roadway.

Traffic anchor Monika Samtani tweeted: “Oh no! Line stripes are coming apart I-66 EB at Rt29 Centreville..drivers slowing down big time thru the area @wusa9 #vatraffic @VaDOTNOVA” Monika compared it to that scene in Seinfeld where Kramer paints over the lane markings to make wider, more comfortable lanes. He ends up cause big traffic jams and burning up Newman’s postal truck. . .
