Pat Quinn gets endorsed by the Illinois Teachers’ Union. Raise your hand if you’re surprised. This comes as Quinn tries to sell himself as a deficit/tax hawk. Color me unconvinced. Still it picks him up an endorsement in the same paper that endorses Mark Kirk. Maybe that’s why Bill Brady is also getting in on the union cronyism.
-
Quinn is also really hammering the “Civil Unions” point.

Alexi Giannoulias changes his story about Broadway Bank again. This while claiming to be an “independent outsider” even as the President is making his second visit to Illinois in two months for Giannoulias. Small wonder polls show Mark Kirk leading him, though the Wall Street Journal thinks this is the Green Party’s fault. The Tea Party’s certainly in no hurry to help Kirk, and neither (obviously) is the DSCC, judging by this ad:

The Wall Street Journal profiles Robert Dold, Republican of IL-10. Dold certainly has a savvy message, focusing entirely on jobs.
-
Phil Hare of IL-17, who “doesn’t care about the Constitution,” apparently doesn’t care about truth either, as his new ad gets called “factually bankrupt.” And gets accused of trying to distract people by demagoguing the ATR tax pledge. Of course, Hare’s too busy pushing protectionist drivel, buying off union members and telling everyone to spend $13.3 million…for the children! That giant target on Hare’s back is drawing fire, thankfully, and Jim Geraghty over at the Campaign Spot sees him losing badly to his opponent.
-
Hare’s not the only knee-jerk protectionist, though. Debbie Halvorson of IL-11 is also detached from the realities of trade policy. She also has a platitude-laden “jobs plan.” Small wonder the Chicago Tribune is endorsing her opponent.
