The Corner

And Still the Kindness Comes

Our Webathon proceeds, fueled by need, matched by generosity of those NR readers — surely you too — who want to see NR thrive, who want to be part of this incredible Buckley mission, who want to recognize 60 years of conservative movement-founding and nourishing. Do your part here.

If you come to NRO regularly, how about you send a mere sawbuck for starters. Ten bucks. The price of a cup of coffee. Okay, a gigantic cup of coffee. You can give more, too, like these fine folks, who also sent inspiring words with their dollars and cents:

‐Good old Kerry D delivers $100 of pure generosity, and then tells a tale often told about the trouble-making effect of the world’s best conservative website: “Always glad to help out. You’ve been a valued companion over the last 30+ years. The only problem I have with you is that NRO often extends my lunchtime a bit too much for my employer.”

‐Shy Anonymous sends a kindly $25 and this request: “In honor of Zoe and Pippa!” Consider them honored.

‐Adam puts $100 in the till, and accompanies his largesse with this thought: “Thank you for being here. I read the online website every day. With all the liberal nonsense in the world, NR is a place I can go to remember there are people who have not lost their common sense, moral compass, and critical thinking.” Amen!

‐Mary, sweet as any name can be, contributes General Grant and gushes: “Love to read my National Review blog every day. I especially love the wit of Jonah and Jay. They make my day. Thanks for keeping me informed on so many issues!” They make our day too. And so did you!

‐Another 50 smackers comes from Richard P, who brags and promises: “Haven’t missed an issue in 20+ years and don’t plan on missing one for the next 20. Or possibly 40 . . .  hanging on past my threescore and ten will be worth it to see the NR centennial.” I’ll be 95 when that happens, RP — there better be cottage cheese on the menu.

‐And then there is Ron and Bobbie. Their simple wish: “Congratulations on 60 years!” Their big present: A grand. Yep, a thousand bucks. Gosh, I love you two.

Hey, for the record, the number of zeros before the decimal point doesn’t change how much I love (and I do!) anyone who sees fit to help. From the Widow’s Mite to the yuuuuuge donation, it is all freely given, and sorely appreciated. Please contribute here.
