Deleting Drought

For a country that has a lot of rain, Britain has to put up with a remarkable number of water shortages. (One explanation: No reservoirs have been built there since 1992, despite the population’s increasing from around 58 million then to about 70 million today.) And there is such a shortage now.

But Brits need not fear. Their government is on the case with a selection of water-saving tips. Some are predictable enough (take shorter showers, don’t let the water run when brushing your teeth or shaving), but this was a surprise:

Delete old emails and pictures as data centres require vast amounts of water to cool their systems.

All is well.
