In Jaywalking, I seem to be on a march jag. This has to do with the parade that President Trump envisioned, after being in Paris on Bastille Day. In my previous episode, I had John Philip Sousa. In my latest, I have another “March King,” Karl King, ha ha ha. Seriously, King is probably our greatest band man, after Sousa. A kid from Canton, Ohio, he lived from 1891 to 1971. Time was, every band in America played marches by King. I’m not sure what’s going on now. Incidentally, King was a close friend of Meredith Willson, who immortalized the era in The Music Man.
