Cliff, I don’t want to quibble, but while it’s true that Churchill’s breakfast whisky and soda (and many of those that followed throughout the day) tended to be far weaker than is usually assumed, I’m unconvinced that raising a ‘wee’ dram in the great man’s honor would have been quite what Sir Winston would have expected.
Perhaps I’ll mark this anniversary by following Sir Winston’s (alleged) recipe for a martini instead. Fill glass with gin. Look at bottle of vermouth. Drink gin.
