Rockefeller Announces Retirement

Long-time West Virginia Democrat senator Jay Rockefeller will retire after his current term ends, forcing state Democrats to find a new candidate to replace him. On the Republican side, Representative Shelley Moore Capito has announced she will run. But Capito is already facing opposition from some conservative groups, including Club for Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund, and it’s likely that Rockefeller’s retirement will only energize the quest to find another GOP candidate besides Capito to run.
