Tim, I don’t think that it’s correct to describe Giuliani as being on the ‘left’, at least for the reasons you give (there’s plenty to discuss about his fiscal and budgetary record, yes). He’s certainly no social conservative (outside, vitally, matters of law and order), but that should not automatically translate into him being described as being with in the Pelosi set. As for his marital record. I find it difficult to find an adjective adequate to describe the extent of my complete and utter indifference to that issue. He broke no laws. The rest of it is his own business. Whether the electorate would agree with me on that is an entirely different topic, and one that Giuliani boosters, sadly, will need to confront.
