That’s a straw man, Stan, or should that be straw woman? I’m certainly not advocating that Europe move to a Swedish welfare state model, even if I don’t think it operates in quite the way, or with quite the effects, that you suggest. What I am saying is that if you think that boosting the birth rate is a necessary policy objective (I don’t), one of the ways to achieve that – within a European context – may be to follow the example set by the Swedes.
