The Border Wall and NRPlus Have Much in Common

I have been a devoted G-File reader since before I started writing for National Review. But something happened just a few weekends ago. What had Jonah done? Well he hadn’t done anything . . . except write yet another Goldberg classic. For the first time, I ran up against the dreaded pay-wall!

You would think that, after 15 years, I might know somebody around here who could “fix” this for me — like my crazy relatives who used to think my being a federal prosecutor was their ticket out of jury duty. But no such luck. President Trump may never get his wall, but NR has one.

Here’s the good news: Just like the wall the president envisions building, ours comes with a big, beautiful door — one that will cost you a little, but reward you many times over.

The door is NRPlus. I subscribed to it as soon as I thought I might lose full access to the best array of conservative thinkers assembled under one rambunctious roof. It’s a great deal. And you can sign up for it right here.

Truth be told, I should have done this earlier. If you do what I do for a living, you have to plow through a lot of reading. And internet advertising is more annoying than Michael Avenatti, while giving me more of a headache than an MSNBC “collusion” alert. But NRPlus solves that problem, allowing me to enjoy our first-rate content without dealing with an ad striding through the middle of a paragraph.

More important, NRPlus is less a subscription than a community. Along with Rich, I had the pleasure of appearing on one of our first NRPlus members-only calls, in which we discussed the ins and outs of the Mueller probe. It was a lot like what we do on our podcast, The McCarthy Report, but this time with great questions from our readers and listeners — the kind of questions that took us into new angles on the case, and that help us gear the podcast to the topics you want to hear about.

By nature, I’m not a signer-upper, so if you’ve been skeptical, I don’t blame you. But I decided to subscribe to NRPlus — no one asked or told me to. Seriously, I wanted all the upside of it, but I also really wanted to understand what our NR audience experiences when they come to the site. NRPlus is a great experience for a lot of the reasons I anticipated (did I mention the thing about the ads?). The best part of the experience, though, is seeing what a thoughtful, interesting, and diverse movement we have — what a pleasure it is to share it.

So treat yourself and march through that wall. Join NRPlus. You won’t just be a subscriber; you’ll be a member — an active participant in our community who lets us know what you think by commenting on our work and who joins the NRPlus Members-Only Facebook group to be in contact with us and our like-minded friends.
