UM…

First there’s this ….

“Advertisements for junk food will be banned from children’s magazines as part of a drive to reduce young people’s exposure to products containing unhealthy amounts of fat, sugar and salt. The Advertising Standards Authority plans to restrict the way fast food and snack companies promote their brands in such publications to boost the government-led push for health. Officials at the authority are finalising details of a scheme to scale down such advertising in the print media. This will be presented to the Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell.”

And then there’s this : “One of Britain’s leading headteachers has attacked the fashion industry for its ‘deplorable’ obsession with ultra-thin sizes. Clarissa Farr, high mistress of St Paul’s Girls’ School in London, said it was ‘grossly irresponsible’ to spread the notion that being very thin was desirable, a fixation that meant body image was the greatest pressure facing teenage girls. She hoped the extremity of the ‘size 00′ phenomenon in America, equivalent to a size two dress here, would spark a backlash.”

Make your minds up, people.
