To say that I’m pessimistic about how events in Egypt will eventually turn out is an understatement, but if you are interested in understanding the liberal moment in Cairo in early 2011, Uprising, a fine new documentary by Fredrik Stanton (full disclosure: an old friend), and which I saw last night, is an excellent place to start.
I just wish that I could have watched the footage of its articulate and often highly likable protagonists without the foreboding that I was watching images of a generation of exiles to come.
