Amendment 4 and DeSantis

It looks like Ron DeSantis will win in Florida. And even if he doesn’t, it will be because he lost by a razor-thin margin. According to liberal talking points, DeSantis is a racist in his own right and a Trump suck-up (the former is unfair; the latter entirely accurate).

But it’s worth noting that Amendment 4 — which would restore voting rights for felons — appears to be on track to pass by nearly a 2-1 margin (as of this writing, 71 percent of the vote is in and it’s 64.1 percent to 35.9). This means that many GOP voters simultaneously voted for DeSantis and for Amendment 4.

Obviously, restoring voting rights for felons isn’t strictly a racial issue, but it is often painted as one by its left-wing supporters (and some of its right-wing opponents). Make of all this what you will.
